A teenager has been killed and six others left injured after a crash involving two cars.

The fatal smash happened in north Cornwall between St Tudy and St Breward on Friday evening.

The emergency services rushed to the scene after reports of a crash involving two black Seat Ibizas at a junction at about 11.15pm.

The cars had collided at the B3266 junction known as St Brewards turn off (St Tudy) and Camelford turn off (Wenford Bridge).

A 19-year-old man, who was travelling in the front passenger seat, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed, Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed.

Six injured people were rushed to hospital. Their injuries are thought to be minor.

Now an 18-year-old man from Bodmin has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by careless driving whilst unfit through drink and drugs.

He was released on bail pending further enquiries.

The road was closed for 14 hours following the fatal crash as officers carried out an investigation into Saturday before the junction reopened.

Footage shows debris strewn across the crossroads which had been cordoned off.

The weather in the area was partly cloudy with around 10°C at the time of the crash.

The force has appealed for any witnesses it has not yet spoken to to come forward or those with dashcam footage to supply it through their website or by calling 101.
