A person has been confirmed dead after a lorry crashed and overturned on a major motorway.
The M6 is still closed in both directions between Preston and Lancaster after the crash involving two lorries and three cars at around 11.20am.
A HGV travelling north crossed onto the opposite side of the motorway and collided with a number of other vehicles.
Several other people were left seriously injured in the crash but Lancashire Police has not yet confirmed how many. The gender and age of the person who died has also not yet been confirmed by the force.
The M6 is set to remain closed in both directions between junctions 32 and 33 for some considerable time while police investigate the scene.
Meanwhile there are severe delays on the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines, which could cause problems for rush hour travellers.
Plus, trains to Heathrow Airport are disrupted after a faulty train earlier today, and services are facing delays in the Doncaster area after a person was hit by a train.
