A Manchester-bound flight from Turkey had to make a U-turn after a loud bang and burning smell made passengers vomit.
The Jet2 plane from Antalya to the UK took off just after 11.45pm on Tuesday evening but had to re-route shortly afterwards.
It encountered ‘technical issues’ not long after becoming air-bound, with passengers hearing a ‘loud bang’ and sensing a ‘burning smell.’
One woman who was aboard the flight told the Manchester Evening News: ‘Lots of people (were) scared… quite a few passengers (were) vomiting.
‘People sat near left wing looking out of window, vomiting and unable to put feet on floor. Hardly any info given which made it worse.’

Jet2 has issued an apology to those aboard Flight LS1702.
A spokesperson said: ‘We can confirm that flight LS1702 from Antalya to Manchester followed standard procedure and returned to Antalya airport yesterday due to a technical issue.
‘The aircraft landed safely and we arranged for all customers to be provided with hotel accommodation overnight.
‘We will be flying customers back to Manchester Airport today and we would of course like to apologise for the delay to their travel plans.’
Just last week, Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks announced a brand new Summer 26 programme is open to bookings.
A further five destinations were added to their list of city breaks – with Budapest, Krakow, Prague, Paris and Vienna offered to customers.
They said: ‘With flights and city breaks already on sale to Athens, Barcelona, Nice, Portro, Rome and Venice, the addition of another five historical gems means that Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks will operate to 11 city break destinations for Summer 26.’
