Two passenger trains have collided on tracks in central Wales, with emergency services gathering at the scene.

The line between Shrewsbury and Machynlleth is currently closed due to what National Rail has described as an operational incident.

British Transport Police said the low-speed collision took place at 7.29pm near Llanbrynmair.

There are serious issues on the M25 too, as it remains closed clockwise between junctions J5 and J6 for the recovery of a Tesco lorry after it exploded in a fire. It is set to remain closed throughout the day.

Elsewhere, Dartford Crossing is severely congested after works have closed the northbound tunnel and issues further south on the motorway. The tunnel will remain closed throughout the rush hour.
