She died at the scene in the Stepney area despite the best efforts of cops and paramedics.

Hope Rowe, 32, from nearby Whitechapel, has been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article.

Judge Richard Marks remanded Rowe into custody after appearing at the Old Bailey on September 18.

The court was told there was a verbal disagreement between Rowe and Charlotte during the birthday bash.

Rowe allegedly pulled a knife from her handbag before stabbing Charlotte to death in the foyer of a block of flats.

Prosecutor Charlotte Newell KC said Charlotte was with her child at the time.

Rowe will next appear at a plea and trial preparation hearing on December 2 and a provisional trial date was set for June 9 next year.

Scotland Yard previously said the suspect and Charlotte were known to each other and cops are not looking for anyone else.

Charlottes cousin Jessie McBride said Charlottes son witnessed the horror stabbing

Jessie has launched a GoFundMe to support her family following the tragedy.

She said: Charlotte was an amazing woman she had drive, determination and a really big heart.

Charlotte fought hard to make sure her son had the things he needed. She was his biggest supporter and absolutely adored him.

Jessie added: She was loved by so many people and will be sorely missed.

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Ben Dalloway said: This is a tragic incident which has resulted in a young woman losing her life.

Those involved appear to be known to each other and were present at the address during the course of the evening.

While this investigation is in its early stages we have made significant progress.

At this time we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.

Officers will continue to carry out vital work at the location and I would ask residents to remain patient while we do this.

I would also ask if anyone saw anything or has information that could assist us then please make contact.

Detective Superintendent Mike Cagney said: My thoughts are with the family of this young woman at this very difficult time.

Following this awful incident, my officers are working closely with our specialist colleagues to understand exactly what has occurred.

Over the coming days local officers will be in and around Duckett Street to provide any reassurance that the community needs.

This is also an opportunity for anyone with concerns, or any information about this incident, to speak with us.
