A teenage girl and a pensioner are in critical condition after a van plowed into pedestrians in a busy town centre.
A 24-year-old man from the Cardiff area was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving after crashing his van near Castle Court Shopping Centre in Caerphilly on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the crash site, where police confirmed a 14-year-old girl and 71-year-old man had been seriously injured.
Both have been taken to hospital where they remain in critical condition.
Gwent Police say the suspect remains in police custody, and was found to be driving while over the prescribed limit for drugs.
Sergeant Lewys Davies, the senior investigating officer said: We’re carrying out a thorough investigation into this collision and ask that members of the community do not speculate about the circumstances on social media as this might hinder our enquiries.
