The man at the centre of a frantic search in Dovestone Reservoir has been named as personal trainer Simon Daniels.

The Cheshire native had been paddleboarding with a woman, thought to be his partner, on Sunday afternoon when he fell into the water and was reported missing.

Emergency services were called to Dovestone Reservoir, near Oldham, Greater Manchester at around 2.30pm to reports of two people in the water.

The woman was pulled to safety by a member of the public using a throw line before reportedly being treated for hypothermia and shock.

Specialist police water units searched through the night for Mr Daniels, who has not been found.

Visitors have been urged to avoid the Dovestone area as rescue services continue to search for Mr Daniels.
